Dispose of animal carcasses responsibly

Residents can request the removal of a carcass by calling the depot on 011 999 6825.

The Ekurhuleni metro discourages the illegal disposal of animal carcasses and advises residents to make use of the services provided by the Benoni Solid Waste Depot, situated at 4 Golden Drive, Morehill.

Residents can request the removal of a carcass by calling the depot on 011 999 6825.

The following information will be required:

• Name and contact details.

• Address of where the carcass is.

• Information on whether the carcass is known or a stray.

According to Themba Gadebe, the spokesperson for the metro, there is no charge for the removal of stray animal carcasses.

Removal requests made by the SPCA are also not charged for.

Private removals will be charged as follows:

• Cats and similar animals R74.26

• Dogs and similar animals R100.09

• Sheep/goats R256.22

• Bovine/horses R612.80

• Poultry R37.11.
