Two arrested for assaulting a 17-year-old in Cloverdene

The cases were opened at the Crystal Park Police Station and the two men will appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.

Two men, aged 33 and 34, were arrested for being in possession of a unlicensed firearm and live ammunition on September 26 in Extension Six, Chief Albert Luthuli, Cloverdene.

Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli said a 17-year-old man alleged he was assaulted by five men and one of them had a firearm, which he used to assault him while the others beat him up.

“The young man told police where the alleged suspects are and they followed up on that information, which led to the arrest,” said Mopeli.

The 34-year-old was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and assault to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH). The 33-year-old man was charged with possession of live ammunition and assault GBH.
