Four arrested in Benoni for narcotics

Four suspects were arrested in Benoni, and another in Germiston.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Squad conducted a crime prevention operation on October 7 in Germiston, Wattville, Benoni and Actonville, where five suspects were apprehended.

“On Thosi Ngelema Street in Wattville, Tom Jones Street and Actonville Hostel, four suspects were handcuffed and taken to the Actonville and Benoni police stations,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mohkeseng.

“Two hundred and forty-nine quarter, half and full Mandrax tablets, 11 knotted plastics of rock and 90 knotted plastics of nyaope valued at R18 950 with R2 941 cash were uncovered following body searches.”

Mokheseng said: “In another incident in the Germiston area, a 37-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of one plastic with liquid G, one glass tube containing a crystal substance and one black pipe with traces of drugs valued at R1 500.”

The five, facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances, are expected to appear in the Germiston and Benoni magistrate’s courts soon.
