Dignitaries pay tribute to the Tambos
Minister of sports and agriculture Nathi Mthethwa led the ceremony. He was joined by mayor Mzwandile Masina, Gauteng acting premier Panyaza Lesufi, as well as the children and grandchildren of the Tambos.
The annual wreath-laying ceremony in honor of Oliver and Adelaide Tambo took place on October 27 at the Tamboville Cemetery in Wattville.
Dignitaries took part in paying their respects to the Tambos by each laying a wreath at their gravesite.

This year’s theme of the commemoration is “Drawing on OR Tambo’s legacy to help fight the global pandemic of Covid-19 and social justice”.
The dignitaries highlighted the legacy of Oliver and Adelaide and promised to always keep their names alive as they played an important role during the apartheid struggle.
The EMPD choir led the singing of the national anthem.
Chief whip of council Jongizizwe Dlabathi gave the vote of thanks to conclude the event.
