Wattville author wants to bring readers closer to God
The self-published author said he was always been passionate about writing and would often write poems and send them to his friends.
Wattville resident Marcelo Simon is proud to have recently published his first book, Righteousness.
The 19-year-old started writing the book in 2016 and then challenged himself to complete the book during lockdown.
Simon said the book talks about being in the right relationship with the Lord.
“You are not righteous until there are things that challenge you. Troubles are there to challenge us, to test us on how righteous or faithful we are to God,” he said.
“Our righteousness with God is about how we live with our families, friends, colleagues and everyone else. We cannot claim to be right with God while our families are struggling because we are ignoring them.”
According to Simon, he wrote the book through God’s grace, and it is not something which he takes credit for – all the glory and honour belong to the Lord.
The self-published author said he was always been passionate about writing and would often write poems and send them to his friends.
“One of the challenges I came across while writing the book was balancing my schoolwork and writing down my thoughts at the same time,” he said.
“However, I was taught to work like a slave in order to live like a king. I was also taught to burn the midnight oil and that’s how I managed to carry on. If you can see something with your eyes closed, you can achieve anything you desire in life.”

He added that another challenge was raising funds to publish the book but that didn’t stop him from achieving his dream.
Simon is studying towards a Bachelor of Arts in multimedia studies at the University of South Africa.
The young author plans to publish another book next year.
“I’ve dedicated myself to write in order to change lives around the world, so it is a lifetime commitment for me.”
The book is available on Amazon or email Simon at therighteousmanms@gmail.com to buy a copy.
