Residents knitting for a good cause

Ladies from Rynpark 7 put their knitting skills to the test as they knitted teddy bears and fiddle blankets for the Benoni Rotary Club.

The bears were for the Be Court Wise project at the Benoni Court, where each child who testifies in court is given a bear to keep with them.

President of the club Annie Steijn said they started this project quite a few years back.

“The project also included refurbishment of the children’s waiting room, such as putting down carpets, painting the room and putting in a TV, video player and toys.

“This keeps them occupied till they have to testify.”

A few fiddle blankets were also knitted and handed to the club, where members stitched various items on the blankets, including zips, buttons and beads.
