TDG clients to report to Sassa
The office has projected to finalise all assessments by March 27.
All clients who received their temporary disability grants (TDG), which had lapsed at the end of December were requested to re-apply for the social grant from January 4 at their nearest Sassa office.
The affected clients were advised through social media and Sassa communications that they need to re-apply for the TDG.

The Benoni local office had a total of 1 560 TDG clients that needed to report to the office to re-apply for the social grant.
With the lockdown level three only allowing 50 per cent of staff on any given day at the office, this was a mammoth task that lay in wait.
“To date the Benoni Sassa office has assisted 968 of the 1 560 clients,” said Trevor Pillay, local office manager.
“The office has completed 818 medical assessments and applications of the 968 clients.
“The remaining 150 clients that were issued with appointments have not honored that appointment to be assisted with their medical assessment and application for the social grant.”
The office has projected to finalise all assessments by March 27.
“Medical assessments for the temporary disability grant are done during normal and after working hours on specific weekdays,” said Pillay.
“The office also does medical assessments for the TDG on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm in ensuring the balance of these assessments are eradicated within the set date.”
The medical assessments are done by doctors at the Sassa office and only upon appointments due to strict Covid-protocols.

“While we do our best in ensuring access to social assistance we must be safe and protect the public and staff during the pandemic,” said Pillay.
“We are striving to also ensure the poorest of the sick and vulnerable qualifying clients can have a better life and in the process with the limited resources deliver an efficient service.
“We request that clients from the Benoni office who have not honoured their appointments or who are unable to do so contact the Benoni office to be reissued with new appointment dates so that we assist them as best we can.
