Ward 28 councillor Mary Goby has called on the Department of Roads and Stormwater to take urgent action to fix Windermere Drive and create a safer environment for residents.
She has raised her concerns about the gaping potholes littered across the road, which is a hazard for motorists.
The road serves as a major thoroughfare connecting Farrarmere and Lakefield.
Goby said the department has neglected to build any form of stormwater drainage along the road, which means flooding is also a regular occurrence and particularly bad in the rainy season.
“This results in the road surface being compromised and, as a result, forming potholes and dislodging sizeable rocks and stones when cars use the road. Despite these dangers, the Ekurhuleni metro has done little to remedy the situation, directly putting the safety of pedestrians and motorists at risk,” she said.
“For too long Windermere Drive has posed a danger to commuters,” she said.
