The iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre are looking for seven volunteering directors to be a part of the board that constitutes a maximum of 11 directors.
The organisation has 10 centres located in Ekurhuleni and the City of Johannesburg. It offers rape and trauma support counselling programmes that are sponsored by the Department of Social Development and the Department of Community Safety.
If you are passionate about eradicating gender-based violence, this is an opportunity to serve an organisation that works in partnership with SAPD and local communities to restore victims of rape and abuse to live dignified lives.
Board duties will include the management, administration, and control of the affairs of iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centres, including:
• Fund-raising
• Power of appointment
• Appointment of sub-committees
• Purchase or acquisition of movable or immovable assets
• Management of Society’s investments and cash resources
• Legal proceedings
• Fees, subscriptions, and levies
• Financial records
• Accounts
• General work
These board members will replace those who have served their four-year term and those who have not made themselves available for re-elections that will take place in August.
