I am horrified that the council can dare to waste so much money on changing the names of our roads. I feel it is a waste of time and money when the roads are all in a shocking state.
I think Oak Street, the main road through Northmead Extension Four, should be changed to a meaningful name such as ‘Gat in die Pad’.
There has been a huge hole for weeks, right in the middle of the road.
It would have been invisible but for a private individual who has placed a branch in it.
The water pipes under the road are all crumbling as the trucks using it far exceed the tonnage it was designed for.
It is a fatal accident waiting to happen. It has been reported repeatedly, and nothing has been done.
This is only one example of the neglect and poor service delivery we are experiencing.
Despite the urgent need to see to maintenance, they can waste time on renaming roads.
I wonder what connected companies are benefiting from making new signs?
Benoni was aptly named all those years ago as Son of My Sorrows as it is now in an extremely sorry state.
It is certainly not the jewel of the East Rand anymore but just another backward, dirty town.
