Robbing of learner case postponed

On March 22, the man allegedly robbed a 13-year-old learner of his cellphone and "boombox" speaker while he was walking home.

The case against a 32-year-old man charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances was postponed to August 2 for further investigations when he made a brief appearance in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on June 18.

On March 22, the man allegedly robbed a 13-year-old learner of his cellphone and “boombox” speaker while he was walking home.

The suspect was driving a silver VW Polo when he committed the robbery.

The accused was arrested on March 29 in Western Extension after a thorough investigation conducted by Det Sgt Donovan Naicker, assisted by sector managers, led them to the suspect at a gambling venue in Russel Street, where the VW Polo was also found.

The vehicle was searched and a firearm was found hidden inside the air filter of the engine.
