Winners pleased with their book prizes

The City Times held a competition to win a copy of Sibusiso Vilane's book, 'To the Top from Nowhere', and our three winners were incredibly excited to collect their prizes and read a personal message each from the author himself.

The City Times and Sibusiso Vilane gave away three copies of his book To the Top from Nowhere in a recent competition after he visited the Lakefield Social Club in Benoni earlier this year to give a motivational speech about his life and how he journeyed into the adventuring side of the world.

Sibusiso had previously met Pam Harvey, chairperson of the Lakefield Social Club when she took a trip with friends to the Malolotja Nature Reserve in Swaziland where he was working as a game ranger at the time.

Since then they have developed a friendship.

The book is Sibusiso’s story, how he grew from humble beginnings into being the world-class climber, adventurer and motivational speaker we see today.

To win these copies, the contestants had to answer some questions with the answers being strategically hidden within the City Times’ article.

Currently living in Nelspruit, this motivational speaker is proud of his achievements and is still an avid climber.

This was shown when he recently dropped off the prized copies on his way to another climb he was excited to take part in.

Being the first black African to summit Everest, Sibusiso was proud to share his story not only with the winners but also with the people of the world.
