Woman’s body pulled from Middle Lake

Anyone with information or families that have reported a missing person are urged to contact the station.

The Benoni police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a woman was discovered in Middle Lake, Western Extension, on July 14 at around 06:30.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said police received a call from a community member who was passing by the dam and saw the body floating in the water.

“Upon arrival, the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit retrieved the body and a paramedic certified the woman dead on scene,” said Sekele.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was wearing black jeans and a jacket.

The cause of death is unknown and police are awaiting post-mortem results.
