Bounce back with Kids Haven this Mandela Day

Unfortunately, the home has suspended face-to-face plans for this year’s Mandela Day celebrations but will welcome your support with donations.

Kids Haven, based in Cranbourne Avenue, is inviting the public to bounce back with them through sport this Mandela Day, July 18.

The Bounce Back Together campaign was started to highlight the value of sport and physical activity in the lives of children.

The home has an inner-city playground, a garden, and a hall for indoor play.

Unfortunately, the home has suspended face-to-face plans for this year’s Mandela Day celebrations but will welcome your support with donations.

This is how you can help:
• Use your 67 minutes to run or walk with others. This virtual event will help them raise funds for sports at the home.

Join the event here: https://www.entryninja.com/events/76464-unity-ultra-3

• Donate any new or second-hand sports equipment, balls, and bats, or things with wheels.

Donations can be dropped off at 34 Cranbourne Avenue, Benoni CBD, or 300 Main Road, Bryanston.

• Keep children healthy with donations of fresh fruit and vegetables. This is to promote health in every way – healthy eating, healthy activities, healthy bodies and healthy minds.

Drop off at 300 Main Road, Bryanston or 34 Cranbourne Avenue, Benoni CBD, or email hello@kidshaven.co.za for more information.

• Help the home upgrade their small gym at the village. It is a single garage that needs a paint refresh and reorganisation of the donated equipment that we have.

Your small group could do this once Covid-19 restrictions have eased.

• Clean up and paint the inside walls on two sides of their new playground –slogans, graffiti and murals.

This is all outdoors and Covid-friendly as it can be. They would love to see you when restrictions allow it.

• Sign up to be a volunteer for their new Teen Hub opening soon. You need to easily be able to volunteer in Benoni and commit to one afternoon a week or one Saturday slot per week for four weeks.

Share your talent for sport, art, games, or cooking with teenagers from the inner city.

Contact lerato@kidshaven.co.za and send her a short note of what your talent is and when it best suits you.
Volunteers to start end of July.

For more information about the home call 011 421 4222 or email volunteers@kidshaven.co.za
