Children of Colin House feed the needy

Their good deeds were done per Covid-19 protocols.

The children of Colin House at Greater Benoni Child Welfare (GBCW), handed out sandwiches and muffins to the homeless in Benoni on July 15 to commemorate Nelson Mandela Day.

This day is internationally recognised on Madiba’s birthday, July 18.

Vanessa Carlse, the director of GBCW, said that the children came up with the idea themselves and were excited to make and pack the food.

“We drove around and gave food to the homeless and they also gave out blankets to those who needed them.

It’s important for us to teach our children to care for those in our community who are in need,” said Carlse.

She added the children enjoyed meeting and chatting with those who helped. Their good deeds were done per Covid-19 protocols.
