Man killed, two injured by suspected drunk driver in Putfontein

A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Putfontein Police Station.

A man was arrested on charges of culpable homicide on September 28 after he hit three people with his car in Vermeulen Street, Putfontein, at around 19:00.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said the two men and a woman were pushing their vehicle that had broken down in the street.

“As they were pushing they were hit by a vehicle. One of the men died on the scene and the other man and the woman were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries,” said Ubisi.

“The driver was found on the scene and suspected to be drunk.”

A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Putfontein Police Station. The driver will appear at the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court on September 30.
