Spelling bee held

This brought the fund-raising amount down drastically, as the team now only need R5 000 to attend the finals on October 29.

The winners of the most recent spelling bee, Road to Limpopo Spelling Bee Competition, organised and hosted by Bacha Ba Dichaba, an NPO in Daveyton, were Gosiame Sekoebetlane, Alice Ndlovu and Khaya Khumalo.

Gosiame, in first place, received R100 and a pair of shoes, both of which she will be donating to her school in Daveyton.

This competition was held at the Jerry Moloi Library in Emaphupheni, Benoni, in preparation for their trip to Limpopo for the Kingsley Spelling Bee South African finals, which were supposed to take place on October 2.

Originally the event was going to be an overnight stay, but since then plans have changed due to Covid protocols, the learners taking part and teachers accompanying them will only need to go there in the morning and come back in the afternoon.

This brought the fund-raising amount down drastically, as the team now only need R5 000 to attend the finals on October 29.
