BFS arrests seven in four days

Investigation continues in all cases. The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate's courts to face charges of possession of suspected stolen goods and possession of and dealing in drugs.

Officers of the Benoni Fling Squad (BFS) had a successful four days with seven arrests and the recovery of five vehicles.

“Officers arrested one in Mayet Drive, Actonville, for possession and dealing in drugs,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.

“Two suspects were arrested in Brakpan at End and Station streets and three in Thembisa in Winnie Mandela Zone 5, Madela Kufa2 and Welamlambo Section.

“Crystal methamphetamine, dagga, Cat (cocaine), Mandrax and nyaope (heroine) was confiscated in these separate incidents.”

A suspect was arrested on South at the R25 off-ramp.

“Officers came across a suspicious-looking white Hyundai H100 transporting scrap metal with one occupant,” Giblin explained.

“Upon searching the vehicle, four bags of suspected stolen copper cables were found to the approximate value of R40 000. The suspect was immediately arrested and the goods confiscated.”

Vehicles recovered:
• White Isuzu at the sports ground in Zone 11, Winnie Mandela, Thembisa, reported on a Putfontein case
• White Toyota Hiace in Ivory Park Extension 13 reported on an Atteridgeville case
• Silver Toyota Corolla in Andrew Maphetu Drive opposite Birch Acres Mall reported on an Ivory Park case
• White Foton truck in Green Avenue, Kempton Park, reported on an Ivory Park case
• Silver Ford Focus in Inxeweni Section, Thembisa, reported on a Thembisa case.
