The Benoni police are warning motorists to be vigilant when driving on the N12 west towards Tom Jones following an incident of rock-throwing on November 17 around 19:45.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the male driver was passing underneath the bridge when a brick was thrown on his windscreen. The man managed to drive off.
Sekele said motorists are advised not to stop when such an incident occurs, and rather to drive to the nearest garage to check on the damage and contact police or emergency services immediately.

“If you are the victim of a thrown rock, try and remain as calm as you possibly can while assessing the situation around you,” she said.
“Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times. It is that time of the year when criminals are looking for ways to make fast money at someone else’s expense.”
No injuries have been reported. Police have launched a manhunt for the culprits.
According to a WhatsApp crime group, another incident of rock-throwing occurred on Snake Road around 12:00 on November 18.
Police confirmed the incident.
Two cases of malicious damage to property was opened at the Benoni Police Station.
