Officers of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested six suspects and recovered two motor vehicles and a truck recently.
“At around 10:30, officers received information of a Scania truck reported hijacked on a Kempton Park case,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin.
“This led them to a plot in Lionel Road, Petit, where they recovered the truck and trailer with five suspects.
“All five were immediately arrested while ink cartridges, lanterns, tables, chairs and catering equipment to the value of around R400 000 were recovered.”
Flying Squad officers also arrested a man for possession of drugs at Ivory Park Extension 14 after he was found with four full Mandrax tablets and seven half tablets.
The abandoned hijacked vehicles recovered were:
• White Nissan NP200 at Emfihlweni Section, Thembisa, reported on a Kempton Park case
• White Volkswagen Caddy at Reading Road, Actonville, hostel reported on a Dawn Park case
Investigation continues in all cases.
The suspects aged 26 to 41 will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of drugs and possession of stolen goods.
