According to Benoni police, at about 09:30 today (December 12) three suspects entered Pep at the Sheridan Shopping Centre, in Farrarmere, pretending to be customers.

One drew a firearm and held up two male staff who were behind the counter. There were also two female staff in the store.

“They demanded money and an undisclosed amount was taken, as well as cellphones, to the estimated value of R90 000,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele.

“No shots were fired and nobody was injured. It is not known how the suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made. Staff told police only the one suspect was armed.”

A case of business robbery is under investigation at Benoni SAPS.
