Four men were arrested at a house in Lakefield yesterday (December 14) for allegedly operating an illegal drug lab.
According to Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation and West Rand K9 units executed a search and seizure warrant, which resulted in the successful apprehension of the four.
“The investigation team followed up on intelligence regarding suspicious drug-related activities in the Lakefield area. A search and seizure warrant was issued and police kept surveillance at the positively identified premises,” he explained.

“Upon arrival on Tuesday, the four suspects were arrested for allegedly processing illegal drugs suspected to be CAT with an estimated value of R3-million.
“Police seized drug manufacturing equipment, chemicals and two vehicles (a Nissan NP200 and a Nissan Almera) for further investigation.
“Four suspects aged between 23 and 42 were charged with illegal dealing in drugs.”
They are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on Friday (December 17).
