EMPD: Festive season round-up
Between December 1 to 31, officers nabbed several motorists for various offences.
Over the festive season, 13 people were nabbed for drinking and driving in and around the Benoni area.
EMPD officers who were hard at work made several arrests in their efforts to maintain law and order on the roads.
Drinking and driving
Two people were arrested for drinking and driving in Benoni and Actonville on December 3, respectively.
Meanwhile, in Daveyton 11 people were arrested for drinking and driving on December 7.
Fatalities
The EMPD recorded numerous fatalities where a cyclist, six pedestrians, one driver and two of his passengers lost their lives through accidents in the Benoni area. These incidents occurred between December 4 to New Year’s Eve.
Recovered vehicle
A vehicle that was hijacked in Ewatwa was recovered in Daveyton on December 9.
