One person has been arrested after 17 illegal mining processing plants called pandukas were found on his Kingsway property on January 7.
A bottle of liquid mercury and four gold bearing ore were also discovered at the house.
Benoni SAPS Vispol commander Col Khumbulani Ndaba said the man has been charged and has appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
The discovery was made during an operation led by EMPD members, and included members of the Blue Hawk Tactical Defensive Strategies Unit.
The equipment were taken to the Benoni SAPS.
