St Dunstan’s College’s Valentine’s Day drive proves to be a success

Clothes to Good (CTG) invited St Dunstan’s College to take part in an exciting and unique social responsibility programme.

St Dunstan’s College learners recently donated clothing, shoes and other textile items to Clothes to Good (CTG) as part of their social and environmental awareness programme.

CTG is an organisation that recycles pre-loved and new clothing, shoes and retail apparel.

The organisation also finds great joy in using what others categorise as “waste” to create social impact.

They partnered with the H&M retail group to create the Clothes to Trees: Love our Planet programme to empower women through micro-business development, create jobs for people with disabilities and create educational resources for children in low-resourced early childhood development (ECD) centres.

The bags were collected from the school by CTG on Valentine’s Day, and learners filled up the field with a giant green heart to show how they loved the planet.

To reward them for their hard work, learners received spekboom plants and H&M vouchers.

Holding their spekboom reward are (WILL ADD NAMES) of St Dunstan’s College who took part in the school’s social and environmental awareness programme on Valentine’s Day.

According to the school, this programme aimed at creating awareness of the fashion industry being the second-highest polluter globally to enable learners of all ages to take a more active role in caring for the environment, ensuring that pre-loved clothing does not end up in landfill sites.
