Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested six men and seized R4 400 worth of counterfeit money on April 14.
The arrest comes after police were alerted of a suspect that had used a fake R200 note in an attempt to buy alcohol at a liquor outlet in Bayley Street, Farrarmere.
“The suspect was detained at the liquor outlet but his five accomplices fled the scene in a white Audi,” said WO Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.
“They fled on the N12 but were apprehended before the Gilooly’s interchange.”
Following a search of the vehicle as well as the occupants the rest of the money was found.
