Police investigate grisly discovery of two bodies

The two deceased are suspected to be illegal miners.

The Crystal Park police are investigating murder cases after two bodies of men, suspected to be illegal miners, were discovered on May 10 near Putfontein Road and the N12.

According to Lt Col Mavela Masondo, the bodies were discovered by community members.

“On arrival, the police found two bodies of unknown men with gunshot wounds. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage,” said Masondo.

The discovery comes after four bodies of suspected illegal miners were found in April at the corner of Voortrekker Street and Snake Road, following a call made to 10111.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
