The suspects have been remanded in police custody and will appear in court soon.

Weekend operations conducted by members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) once again yielded successes.

The operations took place from June 30 to July 3 and saw the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of three vehicles.

Possession of a stolen vehicle
On June 30 at 15:30, BFS members assisted a local anti-hijacking company after its personnel stopped a white Nissan 1 400 on the corner of Great North and High Roads.

The vehicle was stolen in Vereeninging.

The driver was arrested on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

“Partnerships between security companies, the community and SAPS are invaluable in the fight against crime and we commend all involved for their continuous efforts,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.

Possession of drugs
A suspect was arrested on charges of being in possession of drugs with the intent of selling at the Miriting informal settlement, Kaalfontein.

Cocaine and heroin were confiscated.

Recovered abandoned vehicles
BFS recovered two abandoned vehicles during routine patrols.

A white Kia K2700, stolen in Benoni, was found at the Actonville Hostel.
