Wish list: Benoni organisations need your help this Mandela Day

Nelson Mandela once said that ‘There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return’.

With Mandela Day on July 18 approaching, many local charity organisations are appealing to the community to reach out to their organisation by donating to their wish list.

Benoni SPCA
• Food for adult to puppies and kittens, both wet and dry food
• Blankets
• Bowls of all sizes
• Leads and collars, new or pre-loved. They are very useful during their outreach programmes
• Plastic bags. They use these to make up packages
• Shoofly spray
• Internal and external parasite control. The SPCA uses Panacur.
• A donation of R50 is also welcomed, which will assist towards the society’s vaccines and primary healthcare for animals identified in the outreach programme.

The Animal Guardians (TAG)
TAG is inviting volunteers to assist with painting at the facility, to brighten it up for its furry residents on July 18.
Donations of colourful, non-toxic paints and implements are also needed.
For the not-so-creative, members of the public are encouraged to sign up as dog walkers thus, giving your 67 minutes regularly to interact with the dog currently being housed in the kennels.
Donations of dry cat and dog food are always welcome.

Pug Rescue South Africa
Give a pug 67 minutes of your time by signing up for the ‘Spoil a rescue day’ on July 17.
From 9:00 to 11:00, dog lovers are invited to leave their beloved canines at home to share some love with the organisation’s adorable residents.
