Talented star conquers the Big Apple

Chrissy J de Beer excels at one of the most prestigious, international talent scouting conventions

Rynfield resident Chrissy J de Beer (10) has taken the recent International Modelling and Talent Association’s (IMTA) convention by storm, winning two of her categories and securing nine call-backs with international talent scouts.

The annual, by-invitation-only event, was held in New York and was the first live event held since the Covid-19 outbreak.

The IMTA offers aspiring actors, models and singers the opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage thus giving them much-needed exposure to enter the entertainment industry.

Securing an invitation to the event earlier this year, the young singer and songwriter formed part of a group of 45 South African hopefuls.

Following the five-day convention, which included photoshoots in Times Square and at Brooklyn Bridge, Chrissy won gold medals in her age categories for singing and female pre-teen actor and received seven excellence medals.

Contestants were whisked off to Times Square for a professional photoshoot. Seen here is Chrissy in the middle of the Big Apple hustle and bustle.

She was further invited to meet with talent scouts, securing her place on their extensive database for casting opportunities within the entertainment industry.

“It was one of the most exhilarating adventures of my life, not only to be able to travel to America but also to meet fellow talented contestants,” said Chrissy.

“At times the performance schedule was overwhelming and my nerves almost got the better of me.

“I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to the world of possibilities it may unlock.”

Being back home, Chrissy says that she will continue to focus on her singing and songwriting career with the hopes of a new track dropping soon.
