Water the flower beds, trim the hedges, prune the plants and start preparing a delectable menu, to celebrate Garden Day, on October 9.
No matter the size or shape of your garden, whether you are surrounded by humble windowsills filled with delicious monsters or a rambling tree-lined wilderness, everyone is encouraged to get involved to enjoy Garden Day.
Slap on a flower crown and invite your family and friends to enjoy a day out in your suburban oasis and while you are sprawled out on your manicured lawn, register your garden for the 23rd annual Benoni van Ryn Rotary Anns Beautiful Gardens of Benoni route.
The event is set to take place in January 2023, which will see seven local host gardens being opened to ticket holders for an exclusive two-day-only tour.
Keeping in line with tradition, one of the gardens will serve as the Anns tea garden, where visitors can savour the garden surrounds and enjoy freshly baked delights.
The Beautiful Gardens tour forms part of the organisation’s core fundraising initiatives that have in previous years welcomed up 1 300 guests from across the East Rand to local gardens.
Entries for host gardens are now open and the organising committee is looking for featured spaces that not only boast a variety of plants and blooms, but as well as distinguishing features.
