Factory worker critical after falling into chemical storage tank
A Netcare 911 helicopter air ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to a specialist medical facility for further treatment

A 27-year-old man, who works at a chemical manufacturing plant in Benoni, sustained burn wounds on November 2 after he slipped and fell into a Nitrogen storage tank.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the worker in critical condition with 40% chemical burns from the waist down.
“Advanced life support intervention was immediately initiated by emergency care practitioners in an attempt to stabilise him. Due to the time-sensitive nature of the man’s injuries, a Netcare 911 helicopter was activated to airlift the patient to a specialist medical facility for further treatment,” said Herbst.
