Four serious accidents reported on city’s roads

A 13-year-old passenger was killed following a collision with a truck

The last weekend of the month was marred by four serious accidents resulting in the death of two people.

The following information was received from the EMPD media liaison officer, Lerato Monyane:

• A VW Microbus and a Hyundai i10 were involved in a head-on collision at Springs and Totius streets, on 26 November at 22:45.

The driver of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries while the driver of the Microbus was treated for slight injuries.

• A 13-year-old passenger in a Hyundai i10 died when it was involved in a head-on collision with a Volvo articulated truck at Elm and Wattle roads, on November 27 at 02:00.

• On 27 November at 20:48, the driver of a VW Polo died after a Toyota Quantum collided with the vehicle at New Modder Road.

The driver of the Polo was pushing his car at the time of the accident.

The Quantum fled the scene.

• Another accident was reported on Springs and Totius streets, on November 27 at 23:12.

A VW Polo and a Hyundai i10 were involved in a head-on collision. The driver of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries while the driver of the Polo sustained slight injuries.
