Shelter in dire need of food

The shelter is running the risk of running out of food and funds

Mother and daughter, Jolandie and Jorinda Verwey have for the past five years dedicated their lives to offering shelter and care to neglected or abandoned animals.

Operating from their agricultural holding, the Delmas Animal Shelter is home to 300 animals including 130 dogs, 26 cats and a variety of livestock.

The shelter is in dire need of donations, requiring approximately two and a half tons of dog food monthly, coupled with the rising costs of maintaining the care of the animals in their care.

Heading their plight, Intro Real Estate will be hosting a food drive on February 25 from 10:00 to 14:00.

Donations of dry cat and dog food, as well as blankets, can be dropped off at the collection points at the Atlasville Mall Spar as well as the Falls Spar in the marked trolleys.

Donations can alternatively be made directly to the shelter FNB cheque account 62766608255, branch code 270244, reference animal food.

For more information, contact Jolandie at 082 458 3022 or 060 613 1048.
