Church gives back to community
The annual community outreach event saw 700 volunteers assist with 46 projects.
Members and volunteers from Christian Family Church International (CFCI), Parkhaven, flooded the streets on July 29 for its annual Serve Our City (SOC) community outreach event.
Over 700 individuals helped with 46 projects ranging from the Benoni CBD, Actonville, Kempton Park to Thembisa, Nigel and Diepsloot.
“Under the guidance of the CFCI Welfare NPO and welfare director, Tracey Thomaz, we increased our project reach by 25, reaching out to facilities that specialise in the care of children and the elderly,” said Brandon Isaacs.
“Groups assisted with clean-up projects and visited state facilities, such as fire and police stations, to thank officials for their service.”
Isaacs said the NPO was actively involved with community outreach projects throughout the year.
“The annual SOC event allows members and supporters of the church the opportunity to volunteer their time to extend a helping hand within the community, thus making a lasting impact on the lives of many,” he said.
“We appreciate everyone’s effort in making this year’s event a resounding success.”
