Local authors’ second book hits the shelves
"We are empowering other people to empower others. Once you are done reading the books, you would then be able to help others.”
Local authors, Meena Mistry and Roshni Magan’s second book of their wellness trilogy, titled Invent, Innovate and Integrate, was launched at the Durban International Book Fair from August 9 to 13.
Inspired by nature, the book provides a riveting account of how the animal kingdom could assist human beings to invent, innovate and integrate themselves for personal growth.
It is divided into three sections and has various chapters that create a captivating storyline based on the authors’ own life experiences.

The sections follow seasons of the year, starting with spring, which covers the nine traits of soul rejuvenation. Section two, the summer of our lives, gives an insight into the seven keys to creating your blueprint and ends with the winter of our lives through the three S’s (stabilise your environment, style your life and stimulate consistently) process of integration.
Mistry, from Rynfield, and Magan, from Actonville, were inspired by the Covid 19 pandemic. After completing a wellness challenge on Facebook in 2020, they collaborated and decided to co-author a post-Covid survival toolkit.
“Covid inspired us. From all the challenges we did for 21 days that helped many people, we decided to create a post-Covid survival toolkit. We called it a toolkit for wellness and personal growth,” said Mistry.

Their first book, Revive, Revitalise and Recreate, was launched after the pandemic. It takes the reader on a journey of wellness, starting with physical wellness and concludes with soul wellness.
The book, which is dedicated to the survivors of the pandemic, has various challenges that are aimed at giving survival skills for setbacks and adversities.
“If your overall wellness is not okay, how can you have progress in your life? You need to be a holistic person so that you can create positivity and wellness in your life.
“When we finished the first book, we realised it needed a sequel. After Covid, you had to reinvent yourself and integrate back into society. We thought the best way to integrate is through nature. We used animals because of how they adapt in the wild and what we can learn from them,” said Magan.

According to the authors, both books could assist coaches, counsellors and team leaders as well as individuals who want to focus on their self-development.
Since the release of the first book, Mistry and Magan have done workshops for health professionals across the country. The books have also been credited by the South African Medical Association and South African Council of Educators.
“The books will help you become the best version of yourself. We are empowering other people to empower others. Once you are done reading the books, you would then be able to help others,” added Magan.
The ladies are busy with their third book.
