Benoni library’s book bash is back

Hundreds of books will be on sale during the two-day sale.

Calling readers, bibliophiles and those discovering the joy of reading, Benoni Library’s Friends of the Library are gearing up to host its ever-popular Book Bash.

Lovers of literature will have the opportunity on October 26 and 27 to scour through hundreds of pre-loved titles at giveaway prices.

For the past 15 years the organisation, run by volunteers, have collected, sorted and hosted book sales to raise money for the city’s local library to procure highly sought-after publications.

Donations towards the sale are welcome and can be delivered Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00 at the children’s section on the ground floor.

The sale will take place from 09:30 to 15:30.

For more information, contact Anne Smith on 083 229 9024 or the library on 011 999 6846.

News from the bookshelves:
• Becoming a Friend of the Library is easy and comes with additional benefits.

At R40 per year for a single member or R60 per year for a family, members may keep their library books for a month instead of only two weeks.

Members will also be the first to hear of new reads on the shelves.

For more information enquire at the counter in the children’s section.

• Matriculants and students, the Benoni Library will be open every Saturday throughout October and November, offering stressed-out scholars a quiet place to study ahead of the looming year-end exams.

The facility will be open from 08:00 to 13:00.

• The Benoni library is testing the waters in offering skills-library services.

Those interested in learning the art of knitting and crochet may attend the upcoming workshop on October 13 from 10:00 to 11:00.
