Dan Triangle duo grades to shodan

They both started karate at the age of six.

Lesego Shai and Rivashni Padayachee from the Dan Triangle Club received their first black belts after they successfully passed their grading on November 4 in Johannesburg.

The duo passed their gruelling shodan grading, headed by the Karatenomichi World Federation (KWF) South Africa chief instructor, kudan sensei Malcolm Dorfman.

According to Dan Triangle’s chief instructor, sensei Chris Anthony, Shai and Padayachee displayed great skill as they passed the three main elements required to grade – kihon, kata and kumite.

Anthony said the pair started karate at the age of six, adding that the grading was of a high standard and he was proud of his students.
