Rynfield learners enthralled by SAPS roadshow
The school was selected by the SAPS provincial department be form part of its educational roadshow.
Sirens and blue lights were met with great excitement on March 14, when ten Gauteng Provincial SAPS units paid a special visit to Rynfield Primary School.
The school was selected to form part of the SAPS educational roadshow where learners could meet and interact with members of the specialised units, followed by an exhilarating crime re-enactment demonstration.
“Look at all the guns,” exclaimed some of the learners as they passed the firearm training display where various confiscated and decommissioned weapons were on display.

“This doggy is so sweet,” said others upon meeting Optimus, one of the furry members of the Benoni K9 Search and Rescue Unit, who formed part of a team deployed to Turkey last year.
“It was a great honour to bring the roadshow to one of our own schools,” said Captain Nomsa Sekele, spokesperson for the Benoni Police Station.
“The roadshow aims to educate learners about the various career opportunities within the SAPS while showing them our capabilities.”

According to Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the spokesperson for the Benoni Flying Squad, it was refreshing to interact with the learners.
“They were balls of energy and asked so many questions,” he said.
“We hope they are comforted knowing the men and women in blue are here to serve and protect them.”
