EMPD averts mob justice attack in Putfontein
The EMPD has appealed to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, but instead call the police.
EMPD officers from the Bronberg Precinct recently rescued a 32-year-old man from a mob justice attack in Putfontein.
According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, officers responded to a complaint from a concerned member of the public about an angry community that caught a man they believed broke into a house in Geldenhuys Street.
“When officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect in possession of stolen goods from the house.
“Upon questioning the suspect, he admitted to the offence and said an unknown person told him there was money in the house,” said Thepa.

The man was arrested and taken to Putfontein Police Station.
A complainant at the scene confirmed she was the homeowner and that the recovered items belonged to her.
The EMPD has once again appealed to community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead call the police.
