LPR network sees three arrests

Criminals are brought to book due to multi-disciplinary partnerships.

AfriForum Benoni’s Neighbourhood Watch recently assisted with recovering a motorcycle and a Mercedes Benz.

According to Jurie Ferreira, the AfriForum district co-ordinator, the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) camera network, scattered around the city, flagged both vehicles.

“AfriForum, in conjunction with Dot Towing, Trio Risk Management, Gauteng Traffic and members of the Benoni SAPS, gave chase after the stolen motorcycle was spotted travelling towards the Lakeside Mall,” said Ferreira.

“They recovered the bike and arrested two suspects.”

Again, with the assistance of the LPR network, a Mercedes Benz linked to a case of theft and kidnapping was traced to Lakefield.

“Working in partnership with the Benoni CPF, Trio Risk Management, BadBoys Security and the SAPS, the driver of the vehicle was arrested,” he said.
