Got musical talent? Show it off at Rock1000 SA in Benoni

Be part of the inaugural Rock 1000 SA mini-concert and make a difference in the life of a child in need.

Calling all vocalists, bassists, drummers and lead guitarists!

Tune up and get ready to rock at the inaugural Rock 1000 SA mini-concert on November 30.

Presented by the Riley-Roo Foundation and hosted at Benoni’s EcoCampus Senior College, this unique fundraiser aims to bring together musicians to amp things up for this mass concert.

Founder of the Riley-Roo Foundation, Warren Eksteen’s life was turned upside down when his youngest son, Riley (6), was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum.

Following countless consultations with specialists, the diagnosis ping-ponged to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) as well as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).

“No matter what acronym the specialists used, the fact was that Riley required specialised therapies and that life we envisioned for our son needed to be realigned to accommodate his needs,” said the Rynfield dad of two.

“Sitting in the waiting rooms of various remedial therapy specialists, relief washed over me, knowing I could get Riley all the help he needed, no matter the cost. Riley is, however, one in thousands of children who need help, yet very few will ever see the inside of a therapy room, because of financial strain.”

Earlier this year, the part-time musician and IT specialist founded the Riley-Roo Foundation to raise funds for children who need remedial care.

“No child should remain untreated because of the high cost of holistic therapy,” said Warren.

“The foundation is aimed at assisting these children and preventing them from falling through the cracks.”

As part of launching the foundation and to kick start fundraising, the first of its kind, Rock 1000 SA concert will be hosted at Eco Kids’ senior college and Warren invites musos far and wide to be part of this rocking experience.

“A similar initiative was launched in Italy where they endeavoured to unite as many musicians as possible to play in unison,” he explained.

“I hope to host various concerts of this nature around the country which will raise money and awareness for the Riley-Roo Foundation and a charity organisation within the host city.

“During the upcoming event, funds will also be raised in aid of SOWLE Centre and the Matthew 25 Project.”
