Humanity Foundation treats first responders

The Humanity Foundation believes it is imperative to give back to those who serve Benoni and Boksburg citizens.

In commemoration of First Responders Day on October 28, The Humanity Foundation was on the corner of Atlas and North Rand roads to celebrate these brave men and women.

The foundation treated all emergency personnel, chaplains, security staff and CPF volunteers based in Boksburg and Benoni to hot dogs, drinks and snacks to thank them for their service.

Volunteers from the Homestead Helpers for Benoni were also seen assisting the foundation with handing out treats.

Pierre Marneweck, founder of the foundation, said they believe it is imperative to give back to those who serve Benoni and Boksburg citizens. He described the initiative as a success.

“The word spread fast and we were extremely happy with those who came out and enjoyed a snack and a chat with us. We were humbled by the fact that we could, in return, give back to those who put their lives on the line for us.

“We made new friends, but most importantly reiterated how grateful we are for the invaluable service they render and the hard work they do (many of them as volunteers) to ensure that they are always there when they are needed,” Marneweck said.

Ferdinand Smuts from EMS Chaplaincy said the initiative means a lot to him.

“It’s hard work as we attend accident, suicide and murder scenes. Not everybody can do this type of job,” he said.
