Community collection a huge success
Donations will be distributed among local charity organisations.
More than 800 toys and 300 non-perishable food items will go to local charity organisations’ Christmas stockings, following a successful collection drive on November 9.
Members of the community banded together to host the first-of-its-kind Toy Drive, at the Ebotse Market in the Park, held at the CR Swart Park.
“We were blown away by the community’s support,” said market organiser Melanie Kruger.
“We initially put out a call for toys but it soon morphed into a drive which saw people delivering food, sanitary items, clothing, stationery as well as food and treats for our furry friends, all of which will be donated to those in need.”
One Rynfield Primary School learner went above and beyond to make a lasting difference.
“Madison Donegan (11), with the help of her brother Cole (13), donated a wide variety of items, all in the effort to bring a smile to those less fortunate,” said Kruger.
“Witnessing the community’s willingness to assist was humbling and we endeavour to host more drives, in the future.”
