Over 180 families in Daveyton receive food hampers
Beneficiaries gathered at Umnyezane Primary School in Putfontein, Nyeleti Children’s Home, and Daveyton Intermediate School (Combine) to receive their hampers.
More than 180 families in Daveyton experienced the true spirit of Christmas this year when they were surprised with a generous donation of food hampers on Christmas Eve.
The donation was made possible through the combined efforts of well-known comedian Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi, SPAR, the Passion Based Foundation and Believers Base.
A contribution of R200 000 worth of groceries from SPAR, along with an additional donation of R20 000 from Believers Base, beefed up the grocery hampers with meat items for each family.

These efforts brought smiles to the faces of beneficiaries who gathered at Umnyezane Primary School in Putfontein, Nyeleti Children’s Home, and Daveyton Intermediate School (Combine).
Mkhwanazi, the leader of Believers Base, emphasised the importance of family, connection, and community during the festive season.
“My hope with this drive was to bring some comfort and joy to families in Daveyton who may be struggling to make ends meet. Thanks to the incredible support of SPAR and our partners, we were able to bring smiles to the faces of over 180 families, making this a truly special holiday season for them,” he said.
Karabo Mashifane of the Passion Based Foundation expressed gratitude for being part of the initiative.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of so many. Our foundation’s mission is to help uplift communities, and this partnership with Believers Base and SPAR has allowed us to do just that. The families we served today now have one less thing to worry about during the holiday season, and that is a gift in itself,” said Mashifane.
A representative from SPAR shared their pride in supporting the initiative.
“We believe in the power of community, and initiatives like this remind us of the importance of supporting one another, especially during the holiday season,” said the representative.
