Bouwer murder case moves to High Court
Anton Bouwer has been in custody since his arrest last year January.
The case against Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer, accused of murdering his parents, stepdaughter and domestic worker, has been transferred to a High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
Bouwer appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court this morning (February 7), where it was revealed that the matter will be heard in the High Court sitting on February 28.
It was revealed that he will be moved from Modderbee Correctional Services to Johannesburg Prison.
Bouwer faces five counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

During court proceedings, State Prosecutor Ninette Lambden confirmed that the indictment has been finalised and that the matter is ready to proceed.
Bouwer’s defence attorney, Advocate Hugo van der Westhuizen, was provided with the finalised indictment to prepare for the pre-trial proceedings.
At an appearance on December 5, Advocate Takalani Mukhumo disclosed that the State had joined a 2011 inquest docket involving the death of Bouwer’s brother, Robbie Bouwer, to the current case.
Robbie’s body was discovered next to an abandoned, burnt-out vehicle on the R23 in Bredell.

Bouwer was arrested on January 22, last year, after allegedly going on a shooting spree.
He is accused of fatally shooting his parents, Robert (78) and Bettie (73), at their Bredell home before proceeding to his residence in Fairleads, where he allegedly killed his stepdaughter, Natasha (23), and domestic worker, Elizabeth Mahlangu (56).
His wife, Adélle (43), was also shot but survived after being airlifted to the hospital. Bouwer has been in custody since his arrest.
