Karateka grades to junior shodan

She started taking part in karate in 2017.

The New World Shotokan (NWS) karate’s Refiloe Doro graded to her junior black belt during a grading ceremony held in December.

The Benoni High learner began her journey in the sport as a seven-year-old in August 2017, taking inspiration from her karateka father.

“I started karate because I looked up to my dad. Seeing him doing karate inspired me to start. Karate is something I enjoy doing because it gives me new challenges every time. It has taught me the important skill of self-defense and helps keep me fit,” she said.
