Three golds for ATC at masters tourney

It was the first masters’ competition of the year.

Players from the Atlasville Tennis Club returned with three titles from the Gauteng East Tennis Association (GETA) masters tournament held recently at the GETA complex in Lakefield.

Kobri du Preez was the pick of the players as he won two titles. He claimed the 50-55 years men’s title after beating Duncan Horne in the final before winning the men’s doubles with his partner, Simon Edmund.

The mixed doubles finalists winners were Jenny Ross and David Griesel with the runners-up, Alec Galanakis and Ursula de Kok.

Jenny Ross added another for the club when she won the mixed doubles gold in the 55-60 years category with her partner, David Griesel. They defeated the team of Alec Galanakis and Ursula de Kok.

The tournament, themed master’s blaster and gees fees, was played on the weekends of January 25 and 26 and February 1 and 2. It was the first masters’ competition of the year.
