Beware of road disruption during BNAC Marathon

The event start at 06:00.

Residents in parts of Northmead and Rynfield are urged to be aware of disruptions along the route of the BNAC Marathon on Sunday, April 13.

The race includes the 48km ultra-race, 42.2km and 21.1km, as well as 10km and 5km fun run.

It will start and finish at the Benoni Northerns Sports Club on 1 Brodigan Street, Northmead.

The 42.2km and 48km, which are Comrades Marathon qualifiers, are a double-lapper of the 21.1km through the Ebotse Estate. The runners in the ultra-race will divert to the 5km route after completing the marathon.

The marathon, half-marathon and 48km ultra-race start at 06:00. The 10 and 5km races will follow at 06:10.

In other exciting news for runners, the race will utilise a mat-to-mat timing system. This means that your official start time clocks when you cross the timing mat, not when the gun is fired.

It also means your official finish times is recorded once you cross the finishing mat.

This system ensures an accurate and fair timing for all runners, eliminating any discrepancies that may occur with gun-to-mat timing.
