Event highlights rights of those living with disabilities

"We want to raise awareness and empower ourselves to promote and defend our rights."

The Loveness Foundation marked Cerebral Palsy Month with a disability workshop hosted at Tassel 2.0 in Etwatwa on March 21.

The organisation’s founder, Scado Mkhondo, hosted the event leading up to Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on March 25 to raise awareness, promote inclusion and push for better community support for people living with disabilities.

Scado Mkhondo is also an actress and model.

Mkhondo was born with cerebral palsy. Her activist work spans from giving motivational talks and hosting dialogues at the San Michele Home in Brakpan to assisting people with disabilities in her community.

“We discussed issues faced by people living with disabilities in the community. We want to raise awareness and empower ourselves to promote and defend our rights,” said Mkhondo.
